The TÉYLAM Story

Community, connection and, most importantly, care are all intertwined in the fabric of TÉYLAM. This handmade skin care product established in 2015 is the realization of the labor of love between cofounders, and husband and wife, Afotey (he/him) and Olamide (she/her) Odai. What began as Afotey’s experiment to provide a healthy and natural alternative to soothe Olamide’s eczema transformed into an extended, outward expression of his love for not only her, but his love and appreciation for natural skin care products that he wanted to share with the world.
Of Ghanian descent and an Atlanta area native, Afotey’s business inspiration is rooted in his familial upbringing and his hometown community which is widely known for fostering the entrepreneurial spirit in those who call it home.

The Butter

Again, community is intertwined in the fabric of this handmade product. When considering an alternative to soothe his wife’s eczema, Afotey reminisced on the natural remedies his grandmother had for almost any issue while growing up. Taking the natural shea butter from his beloved Ghana, while melding it with essential and other beneficial oils such as jojoba, avocado, and coconut, he created a product that symbolically connected him to home (Ghana and Atlanta) while caring for his wife with a natural remedy inspired by his grandmother. After a few experimental phases to perfect his craft and valued feedback from his wife and cofounder, TÉYLAM was born. This moisturizing body butter, made with love, is handcrafted for all skin types and genders. Make natural skin care your preference, not an alternative, with TÉYLAM.
